I . A Car Accident and A Request for Prayer

My friend Ed is a 57 year-old attorney in Miami, Florida. Ed is Jewish, but believes in Jesus. When I asked him why he believes in Jesus--something very unusual for a Jew--he said to me in his candid way, "Barry, if you and I died right now, they would forget us next week. Jesus died more than 2000 years ago and were still talking about Him. He was who He said He was."

As I worked with Ed on some cases, we got to know each other and I told him I was a born-again Christian. I told him about the church I had been attending since the summer of 2004, Steadfast Christian Fellowship, and the prophetic anointing the Lord has given to Pastor Pat Cataldo. Ed didnt seem surprised by this at all and said he wanted to visit Steadfast Christian Fellowship on his next trip to New York.

One day in February 2005, I spoke to Ed in the early afternoon. Two hours later, one of his paralegals called me here in New York to tell me that he had been in a serious car accident and that he might not live. I later learned the details of this accident: shortly after speaking with me, Ed left his home in in Weston, Florida to go to his office in Miami. As he was entering the freeway, another vehicle cut him off. He swerved to avoid a collision. As he did so, his SUV rolled over several times across the freeway, off the road and into the woods. An off-duty police officer was behind Ed when he swerved, and got out of his car and came into the woods to help. Ed, who was in the upside-down SUV, asked the officer to hold his hand, because he didnt want to die alone. The officer took Eds hand, told him he wasnt going to die, and used his police radio to call for help. A short while later, the emergency services workers arrived. Ed was removed from the car and taken by helicopter to the trauma unit of a local hospital. His injuries were severe: a punctured lung, a severed ear, a broken collarbone, and other internal injuries.

After Ed had received surgery and was in recovery, I was able to reach him by cell phone a day or two later. He sounded terrible and I could tell that it was an effort just for him to speak. The one thing that he was able to say to me was "Barry, please ask Pastor Pat to pray for me." I told him I would be sure to do that and also that I would come to visit him in a few days.

II. Reluctance in New York, Prayer in Florida

That conversation with Ed took place on a Saturday night. After I spoke with Ed that night, the Lord placed it upon my heart to ask Pastor Pat to prayerfully consider coming with me to Florida to minister to Ed. After service the next day, I described the situation to Pastor Pat and made the request the Lord had laid on my heart. As soon as I asked, Pastor Pat agreed to come with me. I was so happy that he had agreed so readily, as I saw that the Lord was opening a door for Ed to come closer to Jesus.

Knowing that Pastor Pat has family in Florida, I said to him that after he ministered to Ed, we could arrange for him to visit his family, while I visited my own family members who live in Vero Beach, a couple of hours from Ed. Pastor Pat told me he was content to minister to Ed without making a special trip to visit his family. I then told Pastor Pat that I would make reservations for both of us to go see Ed, he would return the next day, and I would then stay in Florida an extra day to visit my own family.

The thought of taking Pastor Pat to meet my family, even though we would be in their general vicinity, did not occur to me. I am sure it must have seemed a bit odd to Pastor Pat, but he is extremely humble and did not say anything. Looking back on it, I suppose that I thought they would not be open to the prophetic ministry of the Holy Spirit that the Lord has given to Pastor Pat. But I was wrong and the Lord had other things in mind for our trip to Florida.

The day after I spoke with Pastor Pat about the trip, I sat down at the computer in my office to make the flight reservations. As I pulled up the information regarding dates and times, I began to feel unease in my spirit. How could I not offer the opportunity to my family to receive a prophetic word from the Lord when we would be in their vicinity? I said to the Lord, "Ok, I am going to do what youre telling me to do." I called my mother, a longtime Roman Catholic. I began the conversation by saying, " Mom, youre going to think Im crazy." I then explained to her the amazing prophecies I had seen come to pass in my own life and that we would be coming in a few days to see Ed. To my surprise and relief, my mother said, "No, youre not crazy. I know there are people God gives those gifts to." I then asked my mother for my sister in-laws cell phone number; my sister in-law, Tina, is a Christian and I had previously told her about the prophetic ministry I had seen with Pastor Pat at Steadfast Christian Fellowship.

I called Tina right after I spoke with my mother, and explained to her that Pastor Pat and I would be in the area in a few days and that, if she and her Christian friends desired it, I would ask him to hold a meeting in their community. The first thing Tina said to me was, "We just finished praying about this." I asked her, "Praying about what?

" She answered, "My friend Dale and I came across a passage about prophecy in the Bible a few days ago. We didnt understand it, so weve been asking the Lord to reveal it to us. Weve been praying for three days. We just finished praying a few minutes ago. We said, "Lord, its your Word. When you are ready, open your Word to us so we can understand it better. We just closed the Bible a few minutes ago and now you are calling to say you and Pastor Pat will be here.

" I confirmed this when we arrived in Vero Beach. Tina had been praying with her friend, Dale, when I called. Dale told me that shortly after they had finished praying, Tinas cell phone rang with my call. Dale said it was just "bizarre." I later realized that they had been praying at the time I was feeling unease in my spirit as I sat at my computer.

III. Cookies on the Plane and A Meeting in Weston

So the Lord had divinely orchestrated our trip to Florida. We would spend one day ministering to Ed in a community called Weston , in Broward County, and then the next day we would hold a house meeting in Vero Beach, in Indian River County. But the Lord started His work even on the plane ride to Florida. As the flight attendants came around with small bags of cookies, Pastor Pat took one. He said to me a few minutes later, "Barry, these cookies arent for me. When the flight attendants came around, the Lord spoke to me and told me that these cookies are for a little girl we are going to meet tonight." Having seen the Lord divinely direct our steps thus far, I had no doubts about what Pastor Pat said.

We arrived at the West Palm Beach Airport, checked into our hotel, and then drove out to Weston to see Ed. As we pulled up in front of Eds house, he was standing outside waiting for us. He was in remarkably good shape for someone who had just undergone major surgery. We went into the house and sat down at Eds dining room table. After we had dinner, I left Ed and Pastor Pat alone at the table so Pastor Pat could minister to Ed. About 40 minutes later, I saw Pastor Pat lead Ed to accept Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior.

Ed then got up from the table and motioned for me to come into the adjoining room. As I did so, he threw his arms around me like a big kid and said, "I cannot thank you enough for bringing Pastor Pat here. I have never seen anything like this." I asked him what he meant, although I knew in general terms how amazing prophetic ministry can be when a person experiences it for the first time from the Holy Spirit. Ed said to me, "Its like he has a direct line from God" and then began to describe several things which the Holy Spirit, through Pastor Pat, told him--things which no one could know after the flesh. I told Ed that I had been seeing these things for quite awhile, but he said to me, "Barry, your telling me about them and my seeing them for myself are two things different things entirely."

Ed and I went into another room while Pastor Pat ministered to other people who were in the house. At some point, I went into the kitchen and began to speak in Spanish with some of the people there who spoke very little English. After a few minutes, I heard Pastor Pat say, "Barry, will you please come out here?" Still being in Spanish mode, I answered "Si" and went in the dining room. Pastor Pat held up the bag of cookies from the airplane and asked me, "Do you remember what I told you about these cookies?" I said, "They're for a little girl." Pastor Pat then pointed across the room to a girl of about eight years old and said, "There she is." (She was not there when we initially arrived).

He then told the little girl, "Sweetheart, these are for you," and gave her the cookies. The mother of the little girl thanked him and Pastor Pat then began to speak to the mother. He told her that the Holy Spirit was showing him that her husband was under a lot of stress at work, that he was bringing the stress home, and that it was causing them to fight and argue. The mother was rooted to the spot, not moving and not saying a word. After a few minutes of ministering to her, Pastor Pat asked her if what he had said made sense to her. She just nodded her head and then began to ask if there were specific parts of the Bible she should read. (Ed, in his normal candid way, told me later that she and her husband had been arguing like "cats and dogs.") By prophetic ministry, the Holy Spirit had convicted her of the reality of Gods presence and power.

Pastor Pat ministered to several other people in Eds house that night. They received prophetic words from the Holy Spirit and were drawn closer to Jesus. Towards the end of the evening, the woman with little girl got ready to leave. She also had with her a beautiful little baby boy. With the baby in her arms, she walked over to Ed and said, "Do you think the Pastor would pray for my baby, because" Ed said, "Dont say anything else. Just bring the baby to Pastor Pat. He already knows." When the woman brought the baby to Pastor Pat, he began to say what the Holy Spirit was showing him. He put his hand lightly on the babys stomach and said that the baby was colicky and that the Lord was healing his digestive system. Right at the end, Pastor Pat put his hand on the babys back and said "And the Lord is imparting supernatural strength into this back, in Jesus name." At that moment, the babys mother started weeping and crying. Ed turned to me and said, almost with an air of disbelief at what he was seeing, "That baby was born with a defective spine. He just had spinal surgery."

It was a moment I will never forget. It was a moment when the power of heaven connected tangibly with this earthly realm, when the reality of the power of God the Father, of Jesus Christ and of the Holy Spirit could not be denied.

IV. Words of Life for My Parents and A House Meeting in Vero Beach

After getting back to our hotel late that night, we left for Vero Beach the next day. Our first stop in Vero Beach was at my parents house. Once we arrived, Pastor Pat ministered to both of them individually. As he ministered to each of them by the Holy Spirit, I knew that his words were accurate and true. Both of my parents confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I have to say that words of life were spoken over the lives of my parents that had never before been spoken. There is nothing in this world I would have traded for the moment when my parents asked Christ into their lives. I cannot express the gratitude I felt to the Father for drawing my parents closer to Him, and He overcame my own fleshly reluctance to expose them to the works of the Holy Ghost. As we prepared to board our plane the next day at the airport, my father spoke to us by cell phone and told us that he had never before started a day with such a positive attitude, knowing that God was with him.

After leaving my parents house, we went to Dales house to conduct that nights meeting. Dale told me that she never expected the answer to her prayer concerning prophecy to happen in her own house! After a song of worship to the Lord, Pastor Pat began to minister to each of the people in the house as the Holy Spirit led him. The first person Pastor Pat ministered to was a young woman and Pastor Pat said to her, "Im seeing ministry all around you." My sister in-law Tina cupped her hand over her lips and silently mouthed to me the words, "Shes a pastors wife." Ministry all around her, indeed.

There were 26 people in the house that night, not including children, who received prophetic words from the Holy Spirit. One young woman began to sob uncontrollably and had to be physically supported by her mother as the Holy Spirit used Pastor Pat to speak and minister concerning the pressure she was facing because of her studies at school; Pastor Pat said the last time the Holy Spirit showed him this type of pressure was when he prayed for his own daughter, who was also facing a difficult course of study back in New York.

There came a moment when everybody in the house could feel the power of the Holy Spirit to lay bare the deepest recesses of the human heart and to draw that heart to the saving grace of Christ. This occurred when Pastor Pat began to minister to a young woman who came in after the meeting had already started. The Holy Spirit led Pastor Pat to say to her, " You have tried to kill yourself. Youve been in an abusive relationship. You think your life is worthless and that there is no reason to go on living. The Lord wants you to know that He loves you and that you are his child. " Being led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Pat led her to confess Christ as her Savior.

After the meeting, the young woman, who knew my sister in-law, came up to me and said, in Spanish, "todo lo que dijo es verdad"--"everything he said is true." She also told me, "I came here tonight looking for God." I said to her, "Well, you came to the right place. You found Him." A few minutes later, my sister in-law came to me and said that she and her friends had been praying for the young woman for 2 years. In the words of my sister in-law, "She told us to stop praying for her, because all of her friends were in hell and she was going to hell, too. Well, we can stop praying now. Our prayers were answered tonight. She accepted Christ." It was a fitting conclusions to our travels, as the whole trip began and ended with prayers being answered, to the glory of Christ.

V. Post-Script

As I write this, we are planning our third trip back to Vero Beach in late January 2006, having completed our second trip in July 2005. The Lord used Eds car accident in February 2005 to open a door for the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ, with demonstration of spirit and power. Ed wanted to thank the off-duty police officer who helped him at the scene of the accident with his police radio, but he cannot be found. He left the scene without giving his name. I told Ed that he should check with the police department, because they keep a record of all of their radio calls and information regarding the identity of the person making the call. Ed told me that he had already checked, and the police dept. had no record of a call being made about his accident. "Barry, I cant explain it," he said to me incredulously. "Ed," I said, "some things cannot be explained." When I couple Eds remarks with Dales comments about how "bizarre" it was that I called shortly after she and Tina had finished praying, I know for certain that Gods supernatural power directed the events I have described.

Testimony from Sarah and Travis Byers

May 17, 2007

Our names are Sarah and Travis Byers.  We got married on July 31, 2008.  We have such a loving wonderful God filled family…But we longed for more.  We wanted a family but we didn’t think we could because we had been trying for almost 3 years when Pastor Pat and his loving family and friend came to River of Life Church in Barefoot Bay Florida where Pastor John Morine and his wonderful wife Alison were serving the lord as leaders of the church.  This was on May 17, 2007 No one knew we were even trying to have children or have ever tried.  We had given up by this point.  Pastor pat Prayed over every person in the congregation and every person was touched by GODS word.  It was amazing but I was Skeptical.  Until he prayed over my wife... and when he did he said  “Its possible say the lord and you don’t have to be afraid I know your waiting say the lord but there is a time and the time will come and they will dance at your feet and the provision will be there every need I will meet as you sought me say the lord you seeking the family that you sought me for Iwill bless them I will  abide with them and abide with you say the lord the home the dwelling place don’t worry about it I will always be there  the vow that you made before me the covenant that you made before me say the lord holds a strong weight of glory and my glory is abiding within your unity say the lord I will maintain this covenant in my presence because from you say the lord from your womb shall come a profit and this profit will speak and the voice should go forth like a sounding trumpet prepare yourself for this there’s a reason why all things take place  don’tbe afraid when you get the good news because all things are possible when you believe remember I will provide I will guide you I will defend you I will protect you for I love you  with a deep and everlasting love eternal and everlasting the best is yours to come don’t say you cant when you can because I have said I provide for you and made the way straight the timing shall be right and wont be late for there is something I have for both of  you to do together  say the lord”

These words weres poken through God and God only I know this because God is the only person who would have known the things that were said.  Then Shortly after New years in 2008 we Found out we were having a child agirl we named Novae Jean Byers on September 2, 2008 at 1:41 PM which at that time was also Sarah’s weekly Doctors appointment. Point being shecould not have been more on time.  God stuck with us through the good the Bad which there were not too many of and He is still with us to this day providing every need as we praise him for this MIRACLE.

The pregnancy went as smooth as it possibly could the delivery was smooth.  God is great.  God sent Pastor Pat to that church for a reason and praise God for that every day.  Thank you to Pastor Pat His loving Family and Friends And to everyone who has Prayed with us and to Pastor John Morine and his Absolutely wonderful Wife Alison Morine for always being there for us and there love for God is Astounding.
